Amy LePeilbet Called Into USWNT December Camp

CHICAGO (Nov. 25, 2013) – U.S. Women’s National Team head coach Tom Sermanni has called up 31 players for a training camp running from Dec. 3-15 at U.S. Soccer’s National Training Center in Carson, Calif.

The two-week camp will be the longest training period Sermanni has had with the squad since taking over the team last January.

Aside from a few players still recovering from injuries and Megan Rapinoe not being released by her French club Lyon, all the U.S. regulars will be in the camp, and they will be joined by two 2012 Olympic gold medalists that haven’t yet been a part of the team this year. New mom Amy Rodriguez, who had a son in early August, makes her return to WNT training, as does defender Amy LePeilbet, who is in the final stages of her recovery from ACL surgery. LePeilbet will be in the camp just for the first week as her progress will be evaluated by the U.S. medical and coaching staff.

U.S. Women’s National Team Roster – Detailed Roster

GOALKEEPERS (7): Nicole Barnhart (FC Kansas City), Brittany Cameron (Sky Blue FC), Adrianna Franch (WNY Flash), Jill Loyden (Sky Blue FC), Alyssa Naeher (Boston Breakers), Abby Smith (Texas), Hope Solo (Seattle Reign FC)

MIDFIELDERS (8): Yael Averbuch (unattached), Morgan Brian (Virginia), Amber Brooks (Bayern Munich), Lauren Holiday (FC Kansas City), Julie Johnston (Santa Clara), Carli Lloyd (WNY Flash), Heather O’Reilly (Boston Breakers), Erika Tymrak (Bayern Munich)

Additional Notes:

The U.S. WNT finished 2013 with a 13-0-3 record.
The 2014 schedule will begin with a Jan. 31 clash with Canada at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
Twenty players on the training camp roster played in the NWSL last season.
Goalkeepers Brittany Cameron, who played 18 matches for Sky Blue FC this past season, and Texas sophomore Abby Smith both get their first call-ups to the WNT for the pre-camp goalkeeper training period.
Sarah Hagan has seven goals so far this reason for Bayern Munich while Amber Brooks has found the net five times from the midfield. This is Hagen’s first official call-up to the WNT, but she did train with the team for a few days in April when the squad was in Germany before a friendly against the host.
