Inside the XI: Orlando Pride vs Chicago Red Stars

CHICAGO — The Chicago Red Stars face the Orlando Pride on Wednesday, September 11. Kickoff is scheduled for 6pm CT on ESPNews. Here is the starting lineup, presented by Magellan: 

    • Goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher is starting in her eleventh match this season. The number one goalkeeper earned her fourth clean sheet of the season in her last appearance. 
    • Sarah Gorden will make her 20th start this season for Chicago. She’s managed to earn a staggering 77% tackle success rate in 2019, along with 52 clearances and 29 interceptions. 
    • Julie Ertz will captain the squad once again. She will slide back into the defense in her 90th NWSL game.
    • Tierna Davidson will make her tenth start of the 2019 season. She has an impressive 38 clearances while maintaining an 84% tackle success rate.
    • Defender Casey Short has put together one of the best seasons ever for an NWSL defender in 2019. With her recent addition to August’s NWSL Team of the Month, she remains the only player in the league this season to earn a spot in every Team of the Month squad.
    • Midfielder Nikki Stanton will play her 77th career appearance in her 11th start of 2019. She boasts a team-best 85% tackle success rate this season. 
    • Danielle Colaprico makes her 103rd career appearance for Chicago. The versatile midfielder has a 74% pass success rate this season.
    • Morgan Brian will be earning her 54th career NWSL appearance. Her vision has been key this season for Chicago as she has managed an 80% success rate and provided the assist to Chicago’s game-winning goal in her last appearance. 
    • Yuki Nagasato has been pure fire in 2019 as the Japanese international has scored five goals and contributed an NWSL-best six assists. She is the only Red Star to start all 20 games this season
    • Katie Johnson makes her 16th appearance in her 10th start of the season. She is a key offensive contributor with on goal and two assists. 
    • Sam Kerr’s 15 goals in 16 games lead the way in the NWSL Golden Boot Race. Kerr is also productive defensively, boasting a 95% tackle success rate. 
    • Available off the bench for Chicago are Emily Boyd, Maria Sanchez, Brooke Elby, Savannah McCaskill, Katie Naughton, and Zoey Goralski.
