The Red Stars Reserves Win Their Home Opener

CHICAGO —- The Red Stars Reserves put on a show in front of their fans, as they beat FC Pride 7-0 in their first home game of the season. Six goals in the first half put the team in a comfortable position at the break before the team added another one before the final whistle.

Five different players scored at least one goal, while defender Emily Hess led the team with two goals. Hess is in her third season playing for the Reserves. Forwards Lexi Pelafas, Ainsley Ahmdian, and Patricia George each had a goal. Pelafas now has two goals in two games this season. Midfielders Erin Yenney and Rachel McCloskey also both added a goal, with forward Maddie Pokorny tallying two assists.

The Reserves backline also had a fantastic game. Led by April Stewart, Annika Schmidt, and Jordan Brewster, they limited any scoring chances and kept their first clean sheet of the season.

The Reserves next game will be on Sunday, June 9 against Green Bay Glory. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 PT C.T. at Oak Brook Polo Fields.
