The Facts: Chicago vs. Sky Blue FC

GAMES INFO: Chicago vs. Sky Blue FC on July 15 at 6 p.m. CT; Yurcak Field, Piscataway, New Jersey.

SERIES HISTORY: The match between Chicago and Sky Blue FC marks the second time the two teams will face off in 2017 and will be the 12th overall meeting. On June 25, 2017, Chicago hosted Sky Blue at Toyota Park and sparked a come-from-behind victory that stretched the Red Stars undefeated streak to seven games. Sky Blue has failed to ever grab three points from Chicago in NWSL play, but has managed six ties.

SCOUTING SKY BLUE: Sky Blue comes into the match with an overall record of 7-6-1. The New Jersey side is coming off two big wins against North Carolina and Kansas City, including Sam Kerr scoring a hat trick in 15 minutes for a victory against FCKC, and is leading the league in goals (9) and tied for second in assists (3). Meanwhile, Sarah Killion has helped the Sky Blue attack with five goals. In goal, Kailen Sheriden is second in saves (53), but the New Jersey side has allowed the second most goals (22). The veteran U.S. WNT duo of Christie Pearce and Kelley O’Hara will look to help the young Sky Blue backline contain the likes of Christen Press and Sofia Huerta and take a win at home.

RED STARS MILESTONES: Alyssa Mautz currently sits at 98 appearances for the Red Stars and will look to reach number 100 this season.

LEADING THE NWSL: Red Stars midfielder Vanessa DiBernardo is tied for the lead in assists (16) for all active players in NWSL. The previous two seasons, DiBernardo has finished second overall in the league in assists.

TOP-NOTCH GOALKEEPERS: During the 2016 season, with the combination of goalkeepers Alyssa Naeher and Michele Dalton, Chicago only allowed 22 goals. The Red Stars currently have allowed 11 goals, which is first for fewest allowed in the NWSL.

NEXT MATCH: The Red Stars return home to Toyota Park for the NWSL Game of the Week to take on the Orlando Pride on Saturday, July 22 at 2:30 PM.
