The Facts: Chicago vs. Orlando

MATCH INFO: Chicago Red Stars vs. Orlando Pride on Saturday, August 5, at 6:30 p.m. CT; Orlando City Stadium; Orlando, Florida.

SERIES HISTORY: Chicago and Orlando will face off for the third time in just 35 days, as the two clubs meet for the final time of 2017. This will be the fifth all-time match between the Red Stars and the Pride, with Chicago coming out on top every time by one goal. In the last meeting, Christen Press scored both goals for the Red Stars, while Alanna Kennedy scored the first and only goal allowed by Chicago against the Pride. Press accounts for four of the Red Stars’ five goals against Orlando.

SCOUTING ORLANDO: Orlando is entering the match with an overall record of 5-6-4, having recently lost to the Red Stars 2-1 after coming off its strongest win in franchise history, taking a 4-1 win over FC Kansas City the week prior. The Pride are led by Brazilian international, Marta, who is third in the league in goals (8) and tied for second in assists (4). Defensively, the Pride have allowed 23 goals this season, but since moving Ali Krieger to the central back position, the team has improved drastically. The Pride saw the return of Alex Morgan after playing the first portion of the season with Olympique Lyonnais and has scored just one goal of the 2017 campaign.

RED STARS MILESTONES: Alyssa Mautz reached 100 appearances for the Red Stars in the last match against Orlando. Mautz is the first Red Stars player to reach 100 appearances in club history.

LEADING THE NWSL: Red Stars midfielder Vanessa DiBernardo is tied for the lead in assists (16) for all active players in NWSL. The previous two seasons, DiBernardo has finished second overall in the league in assists.

TOP-NOTCH GOALKEEPERS: During the 2016 season, with the combination of goalkeepers Alyssa Naeher and Michele Dalton, Chicago only allowed 22 goals. The Red Stars currently have allowed 14 goals, which is second for fewest allowed in the NWSL.
