CHICAGO – The Utah Royals FC will come to Toyota Park for the first time since becoming the newest team in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). The Red Stars will take on Utah on Saturday, June 23, at 7:00 p.m. CT. The match will be broadcast on the go90 app and the NWSL app.
Here are a couple things to watch for against Utah:
Coming Off a Victory High
For the first time in 2018, front runners North Carolina Courage were taken down this past weekend in a 1-0 battle by none other than Utah Royals FC. The newest team in the league is coming off its second-straight victory, previously defeating Sky Blue FC 2-1. After the miraculous go-ahead goal in second-half stoppage time from Brittany Ratcliffe to defeat the Courage, Utah jumped two spots and currently sit in fourth place, competing for a spot to play in post season.
Among the Three-team Trade
In an eventful week, three teams have undergone a makeover, including Chicago and Utah. The Red Stars gained Utah defender Brooke Elby, who has appeared in seven match this season. Just as last weekend, Chicago will be without forward Sofia Huerta and defender Taylor Comeau, who have made a home in Houston, while defender Sam Johnson was traded to Utah. Known for her strategic slides and lifting Chicago out of safety, Johnson has played 80 games for the Red Stars in her career.
