Scouting Sky Blue FC

CHICAGO – The Red Stars host their final home match of the 2018 season on Tuesday, September 4, against Sky Blue FC. The match will kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT, and will be broadcast live on the NWSL app and NWSLsoccer.com.

Here are a few things to know before the match:

Four Starters Out
Sky Blue FC will be without four regular starters this week as national teams have called in players for recent international friendlies. The U.S. Women’s National team has called in midfielder Carli Lloyd for its camp while preparing for another match against Chile. Mexican National Team forward Katie Johnson will be with her nation, taking on France and Paris Saint-Germain in Europe. Savannah McCaskill and Imani Dorsey have been called up to the U.S. Under-23 National Team to compete in the 2018 Nordic Tournament in Norway.

Nothing to Lose
Sky Blue FC has yet to find a victory this season (0-16-5), being eliminated from post-season play. Earning their worst record in club history, Sky Blue has the fewest number of points in league history with five; the only team unable to make double digits. The team will look to add points to their season end total and have nothing to lose as they enter Toyota Park.

Neck-to-Neck Games
Between August 5-22, all four Sky Blue matches were decided by a draw or one goal. New Jersey nearly saw its first victory of the season in a 2-2 draw against Utah Royals FC on Aug. 18. Creating a 2-0 lead just after halftime, an own goal put Utah on the board. It was a last-second effort in second-half stoppage time by Amy Rodriguez that lead to the equalizing goal, stopping a sought-out victory for Sky Blue.
