Scouting Sky Blue FC

CHICAGO – The Red Stars will finish the back-to-back games as they head to New Jersey for the first time this season to take on Sky Blue FC. The match will kick off on Saturday, July 7, at 6 p.m. CT, and will be broadcast live on the NWSL app and go90 app.

Here are a few things to look for in New Jersey:

Struggling for a Win
As the team sitting in last place, Sky Blue FC has yet to find three points during this season. Sky Blue managed to earn three draws for a point each; once in a 1-1 draw against Chicago and twice in scoreless draws against Washington and Portland. Eight of Sky Blue’s losses were determined by one goal, while only being shut out five times this season. Sky Blue is also the only team that has failed to score first in any of their 13 matches played.

15 Minutes of Scoring
Of the 23 goals conceded, opponents have had better luck scoring in the first and final 15 minutes of the match. The New Jersey team has seen the most goals against this year, six more goals than the first 13 matches in 2017. Sky Blue has also seen a struggle on finding goals this season. Rookie Savannah McCaskill and veteran Carli Lloyd lead the club with three goals apiece.

Most Rested Team
Of all teams in the NWSL this season, Sky Blue FC has seen the most breaks between matches, including just one week of three games. During the sixth week of play, Sky Blue saw a match on Friday, Wednesday and the following Saturday for the first and only time so far this season. With multiple Bye weekends and FIFA breaks, Sky Blue has only played 13 matches, the lowest of the league, while the rest of the pack have played an average 15 games.
