CHICAGO – Starting its three-game road trip, the Chicago Red Stars will head to Seattle to take on the Reign this Wednesday, August 15 at Memorial Stadium. The match will kick off at 9:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast live on the NWSL app and NWSLsoccer.com.
Here are a few things ahead of Seattle:
Climbs Up to Second
After losing to Chicago on July 14, the Reign went on a three-game undefeated streak, drawing Orlando and defeating Washington and Utah. With the streak of victory, the Reign jump up to second place with 36 points, four points ahead of third-place Portland while still four games remain in their regular season.
Finishing at Home
While the Red Stars will finish four of their final five games on the road against top-tier teams, Seattle looks to take on three of its final four games in the comfort of their own stadium. After facing Chicago on Wednesday, they continue to stay on home turf to take on Houston and North Carolina the following weeks.
Rapinoe, Taylor Keep Seattle Alive
Between the midfielder and forward, Megan Rapinoe and Jodie Taylor have combined for 14 of Seattle’s 23 goals this season. During the three-game undefeated streak, Taylor notched the game-tying goal against Orlando and the game winners against Washington, as she ties teammate Rapinoe with seven goals each.
