CHICAGO – Coming off three consecutive draws, the Red Stars head to Orlando to take on the Pride this Saturday, August 25. The match will kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast live on the NWSL app and NWSLsoccer.com.
Here’s a couple things to know before the match:
Pride Need a “W”
With the NWSL Playoffs just around the corner, the Orlando Pride have suffered two-consecutive losses the last two weeks. In that time frame, the Pride failed to score a goal, falling 0-2 against Portland and 0-3 against North Carolina. After those two losses, the Pride currently don’t hold a playoff spot, dropping to fifth place and one point behind Chicago.
The Pride haven’t walked away from a match with three points since the middle of July, creating a four-game winless streak marked with two draws and two losses. During those four matches, Orlando has been outscored 3-8 by their opponents, with majority of the matches being on home soil.
One Spot Remain
After Seattle Reign FC’s win Tuesday night and Portland’s victory on Wednesday night, they seal the second and third playoff spots, respectively, guaranteeing them a Semifinal match. With North Carolina clinching the NWSL Shield, it’s just down to the final playoff spot with four teams eyeing their place.
