CHICAGO – The Australian Institute of Sport will host their Performance Award Show in Sydney on December 13, with Sam Kerr of the Chicago Red Stars nominated for ABC Sports Personality of the Year.
Kerr made history in Australia by becoming the Westfield W-League’s first marquee signing in her return for Perth Glory in the 2018/19 season.
In the National Women’s Soccer League Kerr won the Golden Boot for the second consecutive season with 16 goals in 20 matches. She also became the only player in NWSL history to score 50 goals in her career.
For the Westfield Matildas, Kerr set a national record by scoring 12 goals in 7 successive games. In the 2018 Asian Cup Kerr notched three goals in five games en route to leading Australia to the Asian Cup Final and helped her nation qualify for the 2019 Women’s World Cup.
