Red Stars Reserves Kick-Off Season Against FC Pride

CHICAGO — The Red Stars Reserves begin their season tonight on the road against the FC Pride at 6 pm CT. This is the fifth season the team has been part of the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL). The Reserves will play five homes games and five road games this season as part of the regular season.

In 2018, the Reserves won their first nine games of the season by two goals or more and did not concede a goal until eight games in. The team made it all the way to the WPSL Championship Semifinal, where they lost a hard-fought game against Pensacola FC.

The team will play a majority of their home games at Oak Brook Polo Fields, with two games taking place at Evergreen Bank Group Field. Streaming of select WPSL matches are available at MyCujoo.tv.

This will be Brian Kibler’s second season as head coach of the Red Stars Reserves. In his first season as the coach of the Reserves, Kibler led the club to a record of 11-1-1, being named the North Conference Coach of the Year.

Erin Yenney and Chandra Eigenberger return to the team for the 2019 season. Eigenberger had 7 goals in 6 games last season. Defender Emily Hess makes her return after a stellar regular season that finished with four assists in five games played.

The Chicago Red Stars Reserves has been a proven pathway to the NWSL. Zoey Goralski and Jenna Szczesny previously played for the Reserves prior to making their NWSL debuts for the Chicago Red Stars in the past weeks. Orlando Pride defender Joanna Boyles has also spent time on the Reserves team last season along with Brianna Visalli and Alexa Ben, who are playing overseason in Europe.
