Red Stars Reserves Deflate Courage While Extending Win-Streak

Flaws scores two as Red Stars Reserves win again

CHICAGO – The Red Stars Reserves extended their undefeated string to 16 straight games with heir latest win over the Kansas City Courage on Saturday, June 11. The Red Stars Reserves recorded five goals while keeping the Courage off the board.

April Cronin got the game moving in the 35th minute when she shot a rocket from left center field, ending the first-half, 1-0. After halftime, the Red Stars came back strong for an exciting second-half. Janelle Flaws received a crisp pass from Veronica Ellis to send an arching shot past the Courage’s keeper, Mengyu Li.

The last 20 minutes of the game proved fruitful to Chicago. Ellis arched a pass to Vienna Behnke who then launched a bullet straight into the corner of the net, putting the Red Stars Reserves up by three. Just a few minutes later, Flaws attacked at the Courage backline and once again found the back of the net for the Red Stars, putting Chicago up, 4-0. In her Red Stars debut, Alexa Ben received a perfect pass from Ashleigh Ellenwood in front of the net, and buried it past Li, ultimately ending the game 5-0.

Chicago will be back in action at home Saturday, June 18 at 12 p.m.

The Red Stars Reserves play all home games at Oak Brook Polo Field in Oak Brook, Illinois. All games are free admission.
