Team to take part in Chicago Pride Parade & host Pride Night July 18
CHICAGO, Ill. – The Chicago Red Stars have announced their plans for the 2015 Chicago Pride parade, as well as details about their annual Pride Night Game in July. The professional women’s soccer team’s staff, players and mascot, Supernova, will be marching in the parade this Sunday alongside the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce float. This will mark the NWSL team’s first appearance in the Pride Parade.
The Red Stars also revealed details about their annual Pride Night game on July 18th at 7pm CT, which entails a charter bus ride that will leave from the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce headquarters at 4:30 pm CT, and transport fans to the Village of Lisle – Benedictine University Sports Complex, where the team plays their home games. Before the game, those who bought bus tickets will be invited to attend a catered mixer, sponsored by Countryside Bank. A limited number of mixer tickets will be available for fans in the suburbs who may not need to ride the bus.
Half time entertainment will feature an opportunity for mixer ticket holders to play Bubble Soccer, as well as a performance from Get On The Floor Dance Company. Throughout the game there will also be a silent auction for player worn and customized Pride Night warm up tops. Each top will have a customized Red Stars Pride logo, as well as the players’ name and number on the back. A portion of the auction proceeds will be given to Youth Outlook, a nonprofit organization that serves LGBTQ+ youth in DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Whiteside counties.
