Red Stars Partner with St. Baldrick’s Foundation

The Chicago Red Stars are pleased to announce their partnership with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants, for Cancer Awareness Night on August 20 at Toyota Park, located in Bridgeview, IL. The two organizations will come together on this night to help fight childhood cancer.

“The Chicago community has supported St. Baldrick’s for many years, giving and raising millions of dollars through St. Baldrick’s events and fundraisers,” said Kathleen Ruddy, CEO of the St. Baldricks Foundation. “We are excited to partner with The Chicago Red Stars for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September and help raise awareness for the need to find better treatments and cures so that all kids get back to being kids and doing the things they love.”

The Red Stars will take on FC Kansas City at 5 p.m. CT. A donation of $5 from every ticket sold using the link below will go to St. Baldrick’s to support the best childhood cancer research.

Before the game and during halftime, St. Baldrick’s will be holding a head-shaving event on the concourse, allowing fans to show their support in shaving their head – and in the process, inspire friends and family to donate to childhood cancer research.

Head-shaving sign-up: www.stbaldricks.org/events/redstars.

St. Baldrick’s is dedicated to taking childhood back from cancer, and since 2005, has awarded more than $230 million to support the brightest minds in the pediatric cancer field. In the 1950s, almost all kids diagnosed with cancer died. Because of research, today about 90% of kids with the most common type of cancer will live. But for many other types, progress has been limited, and for some kids there is still little hope for a cure. Kids with cancer often lose their hair during treatment. As a St. Baldrick’s “shavee” you’ll shave your head to show your support – and in the process, inspire friends and family to donate to childhood cancer research.
