Christen Press and Julie Johnston make Olympic debut

Chicago defender Julie Johnston started the match for the U.S. Women’s National Team and played the entire 90 minutes. The defensive unit, led by Johnston and Sauerbrunn, helped Hope Solo earn her 101st shutout in international play, defeating New Zealand, 2-0.
Christen Press entered the match in the 81st minute, making her Olympic debut. Her presence on the field made an immediate impact as the team continued to push forward on the Kiwi defense.
