CHICAGO – Red Stars midfielder Alyssa Mautz kept Adelaide United’s hopes alive with a second-half equalizer to end the match with a 1-1 draw against Melbourne City FC.
City took the lead in the first half after Ashley Hatch’s header in the 14th minute, assisted by Rebekah Stott. The match continued with possession being shared between the two teams.
With less than 20 minutes remaining in the match, Adelaide equalized, Jenna McCormick’s corner kick found the head of Mautz to tie the game in the 73rd minute. The goal was Mautz’ first in her two-year stint in the W-League.
