Will evaluate aspiring professionals in February
CHICAGO, Ill. – The Chicago Red Stars are excited to announce they have finalized their open tryouts for the 2015 campaign. Players who believe they can compete for a spot with the NWSL side may register now and show off their skills to the coaching staff led by Head Coach Rory Dames on February 12 at McCook Athletic & Exposition, with a call-back day scheduled for February 13.
In order to sign up for the combine, each participant must submit a $100 registration fee and email in a completed registration form and liability waiver, along with her soccer résumé. The entire application can be conveniently prepared and submitted here. Questions may be directed at Operations Manager Neha Shah ([email protected]).
In addition to a shot at impressing the coaches, combine players will receive a voucher for a ticket to a Red Stars home game of their choice.
In 2014, a number of open tryouts participants were invited to join the club’s official preseason training camp. Defender Samantha Johnson saw her long-held dream come true when she signed professionally with the Red Stars and went on to log significant NWSL minutes before heading on a successful loan stint with Australia’s Sydney FC this offseason.
“The open tryouts are a crucial opportunity for us to make sure no one falls through the cracks,” Head Coach Dames offered. “As the case of Sam shows, it’s very possible to find diamonds in the rough who may have been overlooked for one reason or another. Some players simply haven’t performed on a big enough stage to realize their full potential. Our job is to spot that potential and nourish it. We’d like to encourage everyone who thinks they may have what it takes to prove it to us.”
The 2015 Chicago Red Stars season kicks off in the spring. Early-bird season tickets are available until January 2 and start at $125. They may be purchased by calling 773-697-8699 or by clicking here.
