CHICAGO — Yuki Nagasato’s storied career recently reached over 300 appearances with the Japanese legend showcasing her sublime talent in club teams for Japan, Germany, England and here in the U.S. for the Chicago Red Stars. The former Bundesliga and L.League Golden Boot Winner currently leads the team in assists with five, which is the second-highest in the NWSL, and is second on the Red Stars in goals (5). Her five goals this season matches her entire total over the course of 2017 and 2018 in NWSL play.
Two weeks ago Nagasato scored the game-winning goal against the Washington Spirit. Then in Chicago’s last match the forward connected with Australian forward Sam Kerr who provided a last-minute equalizer. Nagasato’s ability to connect with the Aussie superstar is well noted, and it was on display the last time Orlando and Chicago faced off this season. She provided the assist on Kerr’s second goal of the game and led the team in key passes and did so again last week against Sky Blue FC. In both games, Nagasato also led the team with seven total crosses, including over three open play crosses each game.
Nagasato and the Red Stars take on the Orlando Pride on Wednesday, August 21 at SeatGeek Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 pm CT on NBCSCH+ and Yahoo Sports.
