On Sunday the Chicago Red Stars travel to Houston to take on the Dash for the first time this season. Chicago is coming off a 3-1 Mother’s Day win against the North Carolina Courage, where Michele Vasconcelos scored a goal that ultimately was the difference maker in her first start of the season.

Vasconcelos has had a brilliant start to the NWSL season. She has played significant minutes in every game this NWSL season aside from the opening game. In addition to her goal against the Courage, Vasconcelos found the back of the net against Portland, scoring a clutch goal to equalize the game for the Red Stars. A week later against Reign FC, Vasconcelos assisted Brooke Elby’s goal.

With U.S. Women’s National Team players out preparing for the World Cup, Vasconcelos has emerged as one of the key figures of Chicago’s offense, being directly involved with a goal in 3 of the four matches she has played this year, making herself as a terrific option for the Red Stars as the season progresses.
