CHICAGO – After getting their first win of the season, the Chicago Red Stars travel to Rio Tinto Stadium to take on the Utah Royals in Week 4 of the National Women’s Soccer League.
The Royals hosted the Red Stars in their first-ever home game last season in front of a crowd of 19,203. With the match scoreless into the second half, Colaprico silenced the Rio Tinto Stadium crowd with the Red Stars Goal of the Year, chesting down the ball outside the 18-yard box and volleying it into the back of the net to score the game-winning goal.
In the second meeting of the year, it was Colaprico again who was instrumental to Chicago’s opening goal. The Red Stars were awarded a free kick near midfield, with Colaprico in charge of taking it. She placed the ball perfectly towards Katie Naughton who headed home the goal and gave Colaprico the assist. Chicago would win the game at home 2-0 over the Royals.
With the U.S. Women’s National Team members departing their clubs ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, Colaprico will be looked upon to lead the team as the veteran is entering her fifth season in the NWSL.
Kickoff is slated for 8:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on NBC Sports Chicago.
