Inside the XI: Sky Blue FC vs Chicago Red Stars

CHICAGO — The Chicago Red Stars face Sky Blue FC on Sunday, September 15. Kickoff is scheduled for 4pm CT on NBC Sports Chicago. Here is the starting lineup, presented by Magellan: 

    • Goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher is starting in her twelfth match of the 2019 season. She became the second goalkeeper in NWSL history to play 10,000 minutes in her previous appearance. 
    • Defender Casey Short continues to put together one of the best seasons ever for an NWSL defender in 2019. She scored her second goal of the season on Wednesday, a 95th-minute game-winning goal for the Red Stars.
    • Tierna Davidson will make her tenth start of the 2019 season. She has an impressive 42 clearances while maintaining a 78% tackle success rate.
    • Julie Ertz will captain the squad once again. She will slide back into the defense in her 91st NWSL game.
    • Sarah Gorden will make her 21st start this season for Chicago. She’s managed to earn a staggering 77% tackle success rate in 2019, along with 52 clearances and 31 interceptions. 
    • Midfielder Yuki Nagasato makes her 50th NWSL appearance on Sunday. She is currently tied for the league lead in assists with six.  
    • Danielle Colaprico makes her 104th career appearance for Chicago. The versatile midfielder has a 74% pass success rate this season.
    • Morgan Brian will be earning her 55th career NWSL appearance. Her vision has been key this season for Chicago as she has managed an 82% success rate. 
    • Brooke Elby makes her 15th appearance in her second start of the season. She has a 66% tackle success rate and six interceptions. 
    • Savannah McCaskill makes her 10th start of the season. She has one goal and one assist in 2019. 
    • Sam Kerr’s 15 goals in 17 games lead the way in the NWSL Golden Boot Race. Kerr is also productive defensively, boasting a 95% tackle success rate. 
    • Available off the bench for Chicago are Nikki Stanton, Emily Boyd, Hannah Davidson, Kayla Sharples, Katie Naughton, and Maria Sanchez.
