Inside the XI: Chicago Red Stars vs Utah Royals

CHICAGO — The Chicago Red Stars host the Utah Royals for their regular season finale on Saturday, September 28. Here is your starting lineup, presented by Magellan. 

    • Goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher is starting in her fourteenth game of the season. Since her triumphant return from the World Cup, she leads all NWSL goalkeepers with six clean sheets. 
    • Defender Casey Short has put together one of the best seasons ever for an NWSL defender in 2019. She remains the only player in the league this season to earn a spot in every Team of the Month squad.
    • Julie Ertz will captain the squad once again. Earlier this week she made history when she was named to the first-ever FIFPro Women World XI. 
    • Tierna Davidson will make her 13th start of the 2019 season. She has an impressive 49 clearances while maintaining a 78% tackle success rate.
    • Sarah Gorden will make her 23rd start this season for Chicago. She’s managed to earn a staggering 76% tackle success rate in 2019, along with 52 clearances and 34 interceptions. 
    • Danielle Colaprico makes her 106th career appearance for Chicago. The versatile midfielder has a 74% pass success rate this season.
    • Morgan Brian will be earning her 57th career NWSL appearance. The midfielder has enjoyed one of the best seasons in her career, maintaining an 80% pass success rate and tallying one goal and one assist this season.
    • Vanessa DiBernardo starts her 21st game of 2019. The midfielder has two goals and two assists this season. 
    • Yuki Nagasato has been pure fire in 2019. Nagasato has an NWSL career-high seven goals and leads the league with eight assists this season. 
    • Savannah McCaskill earns her 12th start of the season. She has scored one goal and assisted another in 2019. 
    • Sam Kerr broke the single-season goal record last week. The Aussie superstar has a staggering 18 goals this year. 
    • Available off the bench for Chicago are Nikki Stanton, Katie Naughton, Maria Sanchez, Mackenzie Arnold, Brooke Elby, Zoey Goralski, Katie Johnson.
