CHICAGO — The Chicago Red Stars take on Houston Dash tonight at 7:30 p.m. CT at BBVA Stadium. Here is the Red Stars Starting XI, presented by Magellan:

  • Emily Boyd returns for her ninth consecutive start of 2019. She’s recorded 18 saves this season.
  • Casey Short will start in her 61st game in her NWSL career. The Naperville native is the only NWSL player this season to be named to Team of the Month each time in 2019.
  • Defender Katie Naughton is one of two players to start in every game in 2019 for Chicago. Her distribution in her own half has been superb with a passing accuracy percentage of 75.7%.
  • Sarah Gorden is owning the other team’s offense this season when going into a tackle. The versatile defender has won 82.4% of her tackles, losing just three.
  • Arin Wright earns her 96th appearance in the NWSL with tonight’s start. The defender has played every game for Chicago in her NWSL career and accumulated nearly 8,000 minutes dating back to her rookie campaign in 2015.
  • Midfielder Nikki Stanton earned her 70th NWSL appearance last match and will be earning her 45th NWSL start tonight.
  • Vanessa DiBernardo will be wearing the captain’s armband tonight for the Red Stars. The captain leads the team in passes per 90 minutes (49) this season.
  • Savannah McCaskill earns her third start for Chicago since being acquired midseason. She earns her 20th NWSL start tonight.
  • Katie Johnson will be competing in her 52nd NWSL appearance and 25th start. The Mexican international has taken 15 total shots in 2019.

  • Sam Kerr has been leading the attack for Chicago in the NWSL since being acquired in 2018. The forward leads the league in goals in 2019 with nine, but dating back to 2018, Kerr has seven more goals than any other player in the NWSL (25; Lynn Williams has 18).
