Get to Know: Utah Royals

CHICAGO — Chicago’s regular season concludes with a matchup against the Utah Royals on Saturday, September 28. Kickoff from SeatGeek Stadium is scheduled for 7pm CT. Here’s what you need to know about our final regular-season opponent.

Opponent Form

Tied at 31 points, Utah’s midweek matchup with Reign FC was pivotal in their quest for a postseason berth. The Royals fell behind late in the first half but would draw the game level again in the 67th minute thanks to Katie Stengel. The game would remain deadlocked at 1 until the final 10 minutes of play when Jodie Taylor would go on to score the winning goal for Reign FC and deliver a major blow to Utah in a 2-1 defeat. With two games remaining, the Royals are now three points behind the coveted final playoff spot.

Player to Watch

Amy Rodriguez continues to be one of the NWSL’s finest goalscorers. She has been a consistent threat for the club, playing in all 22 matches this season and currently sits sixth in the NWSL Golden Boot rankings with eight goals. In her last three matches against Chicago, Rodriguez has two game-winning goals.
