CHICAGO- The Chicago Red Stars travel to Yurcak Field for a midweek matchup with Sky Blue FC on Wednesday, August 14th. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. C.T. Here’s everything you need to know about our upcoming opponent.
Opponent Form:
Sky Blue FC could not replicate their impressive result against Portland two weeks ago when they suffered a 3-0 defeat against the Utah Royals last Wednesday. Since winning two consecutive games for the first time since 2017 earlier this season, Sky Blue has only gained a point in their last five games.
Let’s Play Again:
This will be the second time Chicago and Sky Blue face off this year. Sky Blue took the three points the first time around through goals from Raquel Rodriquez and Jen Hoy. The Red Stars piled on pressure and eventually broke through with a superb volleyed goal from Danielle Colaprico but still fell 2-1 at SeatGeek Stadium.
Who’s Hot?
Goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan was outstanding for Sky Blue in July, allowing only one goal or less in all five matches she played while also making 21 saves. Sheridan was also instrumental in keeping Portland out of the net in her club’s 1-1 draw on the road against the Thorns. For her efforts, she was named to the NWSL July Team of the Month.
Fun Stat To Know:
Sky Blue has only lost two of the six games they’ve played against teams currently in the NWSL Playoffs race.
