CHICAGO- The Chicago Red Stars travel to Maryland SoccerPlex on Saturday, August 10 for a matchup against the Washington Spirit with kickoff scheduled for 6:00 pm CT. Here’s everything you need to know about our upcoming opponent.

Opponent Form:

Washington has lost four of their last five games including a defeat on the road against the North Carolina Courage last Saturday. The Spirit played most of the game with 10 players after Paige Nielsen received a red card in the 24th minute. They are currently in fifth place in the NWSL with 21 points but are only two points behind the coveted playoff spot.

This will be the second time Chicago and Washington face each other this season. The Spirit won 2-0 with an own goal in the ninth minute and a 63rd-minute goal from Ashley Hatch and Aubry Bledsoe’s seven saves shutout the Chicago offense.

Bledsoe is one of two goalkeepers in the NWSL that has played in every game for her team. Aubrey leads the league with 55 saves and six clean sheets. She has a 79.7% success rate in saves and has recorded four or more saves in seven games this season. Bledsoe has only allowed three or more goals in one game this season.
