Danielle Colaprico, Yuki Nagasato, and Arin Wright re-sign with Chicago

CHICAGO – Midfielders Danielle Colaprico and Yuki Nagasato, and defender Arin Wright (née Gilliland) have resigned with the Chicago Red Stars ahead of the 2019 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season.

Colaprico has been with the Red Stars since she was selected with the ninth overall selection. After being named the NWSL Rookie of the Year in 2015, Colaprico has received NWSL Second XI honors in 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Colaprico played in all 25 games for the Red Stars in 2018, starting in 22 of them, while accumulating 77 total appearances in her NWSL career. She was awarded the team’s goal of the year with her volley against the Utah Royals in Week 3. Colaprico’s stellar play earned her a call up to the U.S. Women’s National Team in November, making her first cap for the U.S. WNT against Portugal on November 8.

The eighth overall selection of the 2015 NWSL, Wright has made 75 appearances for the Red Stars. In 2016, after appearing and starting in 21 matches for Chicago, while having a success rate of nearly 90% of tackles as an outside defender, Gilliland was named to the NWSL Best XI.

In 2018, Wright played in all 25 possible appearances for Chicago in 2018, starting in 24 of them. Logging 2,130 minutes of play in 2018, her accuracy was top notch, earning four assists on the year.

A late addition to the Red Stars in 2017, Nagasato joined the club and immediately became a key component of Chicago’s offense. Despite playing in just seven matches, starting three, she managed to get on the board with two assists and one goal in her first year in the NWSL.

In 2018, the Japanese star made 23 appearances, scoring four goals and assisting an additional seven. The forward gained an immediate connection with Australian international Sam Kerr on the frontline, with the two connecting for ten goals on the season.

The three Red Stars will lace their cleats up in Chicago on April 20, when the team faces the Portland Thorns in a doubleheader match with the Chicago Fire. Tickets for the doubleheader are available here and single-game tickets for the remaining eleven home games go on sale tomorrow, Monday, March 4, at 11 a.m. CT.
