CHICAGO —- The Red Stars Reserves play rivals Chicago City SC for the second time this season as they begin their final week of regular season play. This will be a rematch of the Reserves’ 2-0 win against their local foes last week.
The Reserves defeated an always-tough Milwaukee Torrent 3-0 in their last game. Haley Johnson is the Reserves leading scorer with four goals and scored the opening goal for the Reserves the last time they played Chicago City SC. Patricia Geoge has been on a roll with four points in the last four games, including a goal and three assists against Milwaukee.
Chicago City SC comes into this match with eight points and a record of 2-3-2 in the Women’s Premier Soccer League’s Midwest Conference. Their last game was against Indy Saints FC where they won 4-0. Gabrielle Whittinghill scored two goals in that game, and the team will look for her to provide more scoring chances Wednesday.
Seven games into the regular season and the Red Stars Reserves have a record of 6-0-1 heading into their final two games. The team has 19 points and are in first place in conference play. They have scored 21 goals and only conceded three times, with four of the seven games resulting in clean sheets.
Kickoff for Wednesday’s game at Evergreen Bank Group Field is scheduled for 7 PM CT. Attendance is free.
