Scouting Houston | Rosie White Off DL | GK Replacement – Torrerro
CHICAGO – The Red Stars host Houston for both teams final battle of the season on Saturday, May 12. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT, and will be broadcast live on the NWSL app and go90 app.
Chicago finally earned some much needed rest after playing six matches in 22 days, going on a 2-1-3 record over the timespan. Recently, the Red Stars fought to a 1-1 draw at North Carolina, becoming the first team to lead the league toppers going into the second half. Sam Kerr notched her first goal for the club, while McCall Zerboni found the equalizer late in the game.
On the other end, this will be Houston’s third match in a week, as they’ve earned four points in their last two matches. Last Saturday, the Dash saw their first victory in a heated 3-2 win in New Jersey, with Nichelle Prince, Rachel Daly and Veronica Latsko tallying for Houston. Just recently, Houston battled to a 1-1 draw to powerhouse Portland as Kyah Simon found her first goal for the club.
The Red Stars have earned at least a point in the previous two matches against the Dash, drawing 1-1 in the season opener and earning a 3-0 shutout on April 18. Defender Taylor Comeau notched the last second equalizer to break the three-year streak of losing to Houston on the road.
Just three weeks later, the teams met again, where Houston saw a series of unfortunate events from the get-go. Kristie Mewis deflected the ball into the goal inside the first 10 minutes of the match for an early Chicago lead. Minutes later, Chicago doubled the scoreline as Lauren Kaskie notched her first goal of her career. Sofia Huerta finished the game with her first tally of the season in the second half to give the Red Stars the steady win.
Chicago will head back on the road as they travel to Seattle to take on the Reign on Saturday, May 19. The match will begin at 9 p.m. CT, and will be broadcast live on the NWSL app and go90 app.
