Chicago Signs Erin Yenney as National Team Replacement Player

CHICAGO – The Red Stars have signed former University of Louisville midfielder Erin Yenney as a National Team Replacement player, replacing Sam Kerr. She will join the rest of the Red Stars in Houston when they take on the Dash this Sunday for opening weekend.

Currently, Kerr is away with the Australian National Team in preparation for a friendly against Thailand on March 26, and the 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup between April 7-20. The Asian Cup is the final stage of qualification for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.

National Team Replacement players can be signed when a National Team Player is away on international duty and will not count against the team’s 20-player roster limit. More information on National Team Replacement players can be found here.

The Red Stars will kick off the 2018 season on the road in Houston on Sunday, March 25, at 4:00 p.m. CT. The match will be broadcast live on NWSLsoccer.com, the NWSL app and the go90 app.
