Chicago Reveals 2018 Preseason Roster

CHICAGO – The Chicago Red Stars announced today their preseason roster for the upcoming 2018 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season.

Head Coach Rory Dames has called in five players from tryouts at the beginning of February; goalkeeper Ryann Torerro (Campbell University; Burbank, Calif.), defender Chandra Eigenberger (Green Bay; Green Bay, Wis.), and midfielders Corinne Harris (University of Michigan; Chicago, Ill.), Christina Murillo (University of Michigan; Ojai, Calif.) and Erin Yenney (University of Louisville; Troy, Ohio).

Seventeen players return to the roster this season to hopefully lead the Red Stars to a fourth-straight playoff run, including U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year and three-time NWSL First and Second XI Julie Ertz and Danielle Colaprico, respectively.

From the 2018 NWSL College Draft, six players will be added; goalkeeper Emily Boyd (University of California, Berkeley), defender Zoey Goralski (UCLA), midfielders Alexa Ben (DePaul University), Meagan Buckingham (University of North Carolina), Bri Visalli (Pepperdine University), and via the NWSL Dispersal Draft, Joanna Boyles (University of North Carolina).

U.S. Women’s National Team players Ertz, Sofia Huerta, Alyssa Naeher, Casey Short and Australia international Sam Kerr will join the Red Stars later in preseason after National Team duty. New Zealand international Rosie White will also be late due to foot surgery.

The Red Stars will begin their preseason schedule with two closed matches against Marquette University (Feb. 24), and University of Wisconsin (March 4). Then, Chicago will head to the University of Portland to take on Portland Thorns FC, Houston Dash and the U.S. U-23 WNT during the second-annual Thorns Spring Invitational.

Dames will look to narrow down the roster to start off the regular season on the road Sunday, March 25, in Houston. The next week, the Red Stars will host Portland in the home opener during a double header event with the Chicago Fire.

Tickets for the doubleheader will go on sale through the Fire and Red Stars on Wednesday, February 21 at 11 a.m. CT. You can purchase group tickets (10+) by calling the Red Stars office at 773.697.8699 for tickets at a discounted rate.
