CHICAGO — Defender Bianca St. Georges has been named the Chicago Red Stars’ 2020 Rookie of the Year, as voted on by Red Stars fans online. St. Georges was nominated for the award alongside defenders Zoe Morse, Camryn Biegalski, and Hannah Davison, midfielder Ella Stevens, and forward Sarah Luebbert.
St. Georges made her Red Stars debut during the 2020 Challenge Cup, where she started all five games she appeared in for a total of 446 minutes played. She totaled six clearances and interceptions, with seven successful tackles and two blocks. St. Georges’ standout game came in the Challenge Cup semifinal, where she tallied her first professional goal and assist in the Red Stars’ 3-2 victory over Sky Blue FC.
During the Fall Series, St. Georges played in all four games (starting three of them) for a total of 270 minutes. She’d end the Fall Series with 11 successful tackles, seven clearances, three interceptions, and a block. St. Georges would also finish with a 76.7% passing accuracy.
The 20th overall pick in the 2019 NWSL Draft out of West Virginia, St. Georges missed the 2019 NWSL season due to a knee injury. St. Georges finished her four-year Mountaineers career starting in 80 of the 81 games she appeared in, tallying 31 total points while scoring nine total collegiate goals and 13 assists. In her junior year, she was named the team captain as well as the team MVP at the conclusion of the season.
