The Chicago Red Stars announced today that goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc and midfielder Adriana Leon were named to the Canadian Women’s National Team roster for the January 31st international friendly against the United States.

LeBlanc, who was recently acquired by the Red Stars in a trade with Portland Thorns FC, is a seasoned veteran of Canada’s National Team. In 2012, she earned her 100th career cap with Canada and won a bronze medal at the London Olympic games. LeBlanc ranked second in the NWSL last season amongst goalkeepers with 92 saves, earning NWSL Player of the Week honors twice.

Red Stars midfielder Adriana Leon was also named to Canada’s roster. Leon, who earned her first cap with the full Canadian National Team in 2012, has since played, and started in, 7 matches for the squad. Leon was acquired by the Red Stars in 2013 in a trade with the Boston Breakers. In 2013 she played in 10 matches for Chicago, netting one goal and one assist.

Much of the Canadian squad that took part in December’s Torneio Internacional de Futebol Feminino in Brazil is back with only a handful of changes.

The team arrives into Texas on January 26, in advance of the game that kicks off at 8pm CT.

The game will be carried live in Canada on Sportsnet World and will be replayed later on Sportsnet One.
