CHICAGO – The Chicago Red Stars announced today a new head coach for the Red Stars Reserves in Dave Lovercheck for the 2017 Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) season. Lovercheck will look to bring the WPSL title back to Chicago after being crowned champions in 2015 and returning to the Final Four last season.
With an array of experience, Lovercheck is also the Director of Team Chicago’s Under-11-18 Girls teams of the Illinois Women’s Soccer League (IWSL), while splitting his time as Head Coach of the U-17 Girls Elite Residential Program at Shattuck-St. Mary’s in Minnesota.
Before joining Shattuck-St. Mary’s, Lovercheck was the Assistant Coach of Division I San Jose State University women’s soccer team, where his duties on top of coaching included being the recruiting coordinator, video analyst and NCAA compliance coordinator.
Not a stranger to the professional level, Lovercheck was the Assistant Coach and Equipment Manager for FC Gold Pride, which won the Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) Championship in 2010.
Lovercheck started his coaching career in Manhattan, New York, as a Staff Coach and Camp Director for Downtown United Soccer Club, as well as the Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at Borough of Manhattan Community College.
The Red Stars Reserves team is currently being put together by Lovercheck to compete in the upcoming WPSL season.
