Chicago Hosts Sky Blue FC in 2018 Home Finale

CHICAGO –In final home match of the 2018 season, the Chicago Red Stars will host Sky Blue FC as previously postponed from the end of July.

Chicago is currently on a four-game undefeated streak, going 1-0-3 in the month of August.

The last match saw the Red Stars defeat Orlando 3-1 to eliminate the Pride from the post season. A goal each by Sam Kerr and Vanessa DiBernardo gave Chicago the 2-0 lead into halftime, while Kerr completed a brace 15 minutes into the second half. Orlando’s Alex Morgan notched the only goal for the home side.

The victory landed Chicago in the final Playoff spot heading into the last two matches.

Sky Blue FC is coming off a 1-1 draw in Washington on Sunday morning.

With a scoreless first half, Washington tallied the first goal in the 71stminute as Arielle Ship took the lead. But minutes before the final whistle, Sky Blue’s Sarah Killion equalized, earning Sky Blue just their sixth point of the season, all coming from draws.

The last time these two clubs faced each other, Kerr took control of her former club, tallying a hat trick in the 3-1 victory. Imani Dorsey scored the lone goal for New Jersey.

At the beginning of the season, Chicago handed Sky Blue its first point of the 2018 season after the match ended in a 1-1 draw at Toyota Park. Former Chicago forward Sofia Huerta took the lead just 44 seconds into the match, while rookie Savannah McCaskill equalized with nearly 10 minutes remaining in the game.

Chicago will head to Utah to take on the Royals for both sides final match of the 2018 season. The match will be broadcast live on Saturday, September 8, at 2:30 p.m. CT on the NWSL app and NWSLsoccer.com.
