CHICAGO – The Chicago Red Stars have acquired New Zealand international Rosie White, 2018 College Draft Picks Ashton Miller and Joanna Boyles, and the rights to former U.S. Women’s National Team defender Whitney Engen from the Boston Breakers via the Dispersal Draft.
Rosie White
Hometown: Auckland, New Zealand
Midfielder
A New Zealand international, White played with Liverpool of the Women’s Super League in England for the 2015 and 2016 season. During the two years, White appeared in 22 games, scoring four goals.
The midfielder was picked up by the Boston Breakers ahead of the 2017 NWSL season. White found the field in 22 matches, totaling nearly 1800 minutes. She tallied the second-most shots on the team with 45, scoring four goals.
Since 2009, White has appeared in 84 international matches for New Zealand, where she has scored 17 goals.
Ashton Miller
Duke University
Hometown: Okemos, Michigan
Forward/Midfielder
A forward/midfielder, Miller starred at Duke University, playing 1667 minutes in her senior year. Nearing the top of the Duke record books, Miller tallied 60 goals and 51 assists in her career, both top-10 in Duke history.
Miller was chosen 22nd overall in the 2018 NWSL College Draft by Boston.
Joanna Boyles
University of North Carolina
Hometown: Raleigh, North Carolina
Midfielder
A midfielder from University of North Carolina, Boyles finished her collegiate career with 14 goals and 17 assists. Boyles returned for her senior year in 2017 after suffering back-to-back ACL tears. She was also selected to the All-ACC Second Team in her senior year.
Boyles was chosen 32nd overall in the 2018 NWSL College Draft by Boston.
