CHICAGO – The Chicago Red Stars have announced today their updated 2017 preseason roster as the team continues training for its fifth season in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).
After opening preseason training on March 13 with a 30-player roster, Chicago head coach Rory Dames and staff have cut down the preseason roster to 25, plus U.S. Women’s National Team member Julie Ertz, who is currently out-of-market. After back-to-back playoff runs, the Red Stars roster includes 19 returning players from the 2016 roster.
The players no longer listed on Chicago’s preseason roster are defender Emily Richardson, midfielders Ashley Gogolin and Kourtney Kutscher, and forward Ashleigh Ellenwood.

Chicago is currently in Portland for the Thorns Spring Invitational, presented by Tillamook. The Red Stars return to Providence Park tomorrow, Wednesday, March 29 at 7 p.m. CT for their second preseason match against the Houston Dash.
The team will be back at Toyota Park for the home opener on April 22 against FC Kansas City. Tickets are currently on sale here.
