Da Costa to compete in the 2017 UEFA Women’s Euro Qualifiers with Portugal Women’s National Team
CHICAGO – Chicago Red Stars midfielder Amanda Da Costa has been called up to the Portugal Women’s National Team camp ahead of the final two matches of the 2017 UEFA Women’s Euro Qualifying tournament. Portugal will host Finland on September 16 in Trofa, Portugal and conclude group play against the Republic of Ireland on Sept. 20 in Dublin, Ireland.
Portugal sits in fourth place in Group 2 of the tournament with seven points. Spain (18 pts.), Finland (13), Republic of Ireland (9) and Montenegro (0) complete the group.
Da Costa, a dual citizen with the United States and Portugal, has already competed in two qualifying matches, receiving her first-ever cap with the National Team when subbed into the second half against Spain in December 2015.
She received her first start of her international career when Portugal faced Spain again in April 2016, just before she headed to Chicago to begin her first season with the Red Stars.
Da Costa has appeared in eight matches with Portugal, including two international friendlies against Poland at the beginning of the year and started in her first Algarve Cup in March, playing in all four matches while starting three.
