Chicago Red Stars Lose 3-0 to Racing Louisville FC

The Chicago Red Stars fell 3-0 to Racing Louisville FC tonight in Louisville, Kentucky. The team now drops to 1-5-1 on the season.  
18’ Yuki sends a pass into the box that is controlled by the foot of Ella Stevens, who then slots a pass to Penelope Hocking who takes a shot but is just offsides  
23’ Louisville find a wide-open attacker in Chicago’s 18-yard box, but before they’re able to cause any harm, Tatumn Milazzo takes the ball off their feet with a well-timed slide tackle 
33’ Louisville is awarded a penalty attempt. The attempt goes off the post, bounces off of Alyssa Naeher and gets into the net, 1-0 Louisville   
42’ Tierna Davidson puts a foot out to block a Louisville shot, the rebound falls to a Louisville attacker who takes a shot that is saved by Naeher and goes out for a corner kick 
43’ The corner kick finds the head of a Louisville player who directs it to the opposite side of Naeher’s momentum, but the keeper quickly recover’s gets a hand on it and the ball is cleared from danger 
45+4’ A foul late into added time awards Louisville another penalty that they convert, 2-0 Louisville 
55’ a cross into Chicago’s 18-yard box finds a wide-open Louisville attacker who heads the ball toward goal, but Naeher makes the save 
69’ Louisville take a strong shot directly at Chicago’s goal, but Naeher places herself perfectly to corral the shot 
76’ Jenna Bike’s cross from the right wing into Louisville’s 18-yard box finds Hocking who takes a shot that goes off the woodwork, bounces back to her for a second shot that is deflected for a corner kick 
83’ Hocking takes the ball up the field, sends it wide to an awaiting Bike who takes a shot that Louisville’s keeper deflects over the crossbar 
84’ Chicago swing the ball from right to left, find an open Casey Krueger who takes a strong shot, but it goes directly into the arms of Louisville’s keeper  
89’ Louisville’s Goins faces up two Red Stars in the box, takes a left footed shot that goes past the outstretched leg of Naeher and finds the back of the net, 3-0 Louisville 


  • Alyssa Naeher made her 150th regular-season appearance with her start tonight. She becomes the first goalkeeper in NWSL history to reach the milestone.  
  • Naeher had nine saves tonight in goal. Only once has Naeher had more saves in a single match in her Red Stars career (11 in 2018 against North Carolina). 
  • Despite the lopsided score, the Red Stars out possessed Racing (56.6 to 43.4) and had a higher passing accuracy (84.9 to 80.1)
