The Chicago Red Stars have added Brenton Saylor as goalkeeper coach for the club. Saylor joins the Red Stars from the U.S. Soccer Youth National Teams (USYNT), where he has served as the goalkeeper coach for the under-15, -16 and –17 United States Women’s Youth National Team since 2022.
“We’re delighted to welcome Brenton to our coaching staff,” said Red Stars president, Karen Leetzow. “With over 15 years of experience as a goalkeeper coach ranging from the youth level to the national stage, his experience will reinforce an already talented coaching staff.”
“I’m thrilled to join the Chicago Red Stars and can’t wait to join the team in Florida for the preseason,” said Saylor. “The Red Stars have world-class goalkeeping talent, and I’m excited to keep pushing them towards excellence.”
In addition to Saylor’s USYNT experience, he also served as goalkeeper coach for the National Women’s Soccer League’s Houston Dash from 2018 to 2022. Saylor has coached goalkeepers at the youth academy, collegiate, professional and international levels since 2008. Most recently, Saylor was appointed Girls Academy Director at HTX Soccer Girls Academy in July 2023.
Saylor will join the rest of the Chicago Red Stars coaching staff under head coach, Lorne Donaldson, at IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL, for the team’s preseason camp. The Red Stars begin the 2024 National Women’s Soccer season March 16 when they take on the Utah Royals in Sandy, UT. The club returns to Chicago for their home opener at SeatGeek Stadium March 23 against Seattle Reign FC. Tickets are available now at chicagoredstars.com/tickets.
