Chicago Red Stars, Alyssa Naeher and Mallory Pugh, will join the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) for their European tour with friendlies against England and Spain October 7 and 11, respectfully.
This will be the third time this year that Naeher and Pugh will join the national team with both players previously joining the USWNT for the SheBelieves Cup that took place in February, two friendly matches against Colombia in June and the Concacaf W Championship in July. Pugh scored three goals and had one assist in the SheBelieves Cup, two goals and four assists in the international friendlies, and one goal and two assists in the Concacaf W Championship. Meanwhile, Naeher appeared in the SheBelieves Cup, international friendlies, and the Concacaf W Championship earning four clean sheets.
Naeher has made 84 appearances with the USWNT since making the team in 2015 and has since earned 50 clean sheets in international competition. Pugh was called up to the full Women’s National Team when she was 17 and was the youngest player to debut for the United States in over a decade. Since then, she has made 80 appearances, scoring 24 goals and making 27 assists. Both were members of the World Cup team that won in 2019, and Naeher was a member of the team that won in 2015.
The USWNT will travel to England to face off against England at Wembley Stadium on October 7 at 2:00 p.m. CT, and meet Spain on the pitch at El Sadar Stadium at 1:30 p.m. CT.
