CHICAGO — The Chicago Red Stars take on the North Carolina Courage on Sunday, July 21st. Here is the Starting XI, Presented by Magellan.

  • Goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher starts her 106th NWSL game. She made 3 previous appearances for Chicago this season prior to her international duty with the US WNT at the FIFA World Cup.
  • Tierna Davidson starts in defense for Chicago. She was the youngest member of the World Cup-winning team this summer for the USA.
  • Sarah Gorden starts her 12th game of the season. She has made 37 appearances in the NWS
  • Katie Naughton starts in defense. She is one of two Red Stars to start all 12 games for Chicago this season.
  • Casey Short will start her 12th game of the season in her 63rd NWSL appearance.
  • Midfielder Julie Ertz captains the Red Stars. She will make her 83rd NWSL appearance and her fourth in 2019.
  • Morgan Brian will start in the midfield. This is her 48th NWSL career appearance.
  • Midfielder Vanessa DiBernardo makes her 13th appearance for Chicago this season. She is ranked third in all-time NWSL assists. 
  • Yuki Nagasato makes her 13th appearance this season and has started every game for Chicago in 2019. 
  • Forward Sam Kerr starts her 10th game this season. She is the current NWSL Golden Boot leader with nine goals.
  • Arin Wright starts at forward. This is her 12th appearance this season and the 97th of her career. 
  • Savannah McCaskill, Emily Boyd, Brooke Elby, Kayla Sharples, Hannah Davison, Zoey Goralski and Katie Johnson are available off the bench.
