The US Soccer Federation, US Women’s National Team Players Association, and the US National Soccer Team Players Association agreed to collective bargaining agreements that achieved equal play for all players in May of 2022. This was primarily achieved through equal economic terms across the Women’s and Men’s teams which include identical compensation for all competitions, including the FIFA World Cup, and the introduction of the same commercial revenue sharing mechanism for both teams.
That same year, the NWSL Players Association ratified their first collective bargaining agreement which includes a multitude of new protections for players including salary increases, Free Agency, increased staffing requirements, and access to paid parental and mental health leave.
