CHICAGO — It’s hard to believe that Arin Wright (formerly Gilliland) is in her fifth season in the National Women’s Soccer League, but even harder to believe is that his might be her best season yet. The outside defender has been a standout in the league since making her debut her rookie season in 2015.

Wright has made the Red Stars backline hard to beat. Since joining Chicago, she’s made 93 appearances for her club. So, what makes this season possibly her best yet?

This season she has only let one player, yes one, pass her. Wright is now only one of four defenders in the league with at least 10 tackles, more than 40 duels won and has been beaten on the dribble by no more than five players. However, despite these staggering numbers defensively, Wright has been a big push for the Red Stars offensively as well.

The Kentucky native has put in 18 crosses to push the Red Stars in the attack, but she’s also managed to put in seven key passes. With a 64% successful pass rating, look for Wright to do it all on Sunday to help Chicago end June on a high note.
