Canada’s Women’s National Team will have 21 players arriving into Winnipeg as they play their first home game of 2014 against the United States on May 8 at Investors Group Field. The group will feature Red Stars and Canadian veteran goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc, as well as 21 year-old midfielder Adriana Leon.
The Winnipeg camp also marks the return of 32 year-old forward Melissa Tancredi, who is back in the National Team fold for the first time since Canada played the United States at BMO Field last year. Tancredi will be debuting with the Red Stars after completing chiropractic school. She is expected to arrive by early June.
Players will start to arrive in Winnipeg over the weekend in advance of the team’s first full training session on Monday.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and espnW.com at 7 p.m. CT, as well as on Sportsnet One in Canada.
