SCOUTING FC KANSAS CITY: The final third of the NWSL season has seen a different side of FC Kansas City, looking very similar to the team that won the 2014 and 2015 NWSL Championship. In the past five matches, Kansas City has four wins with just one loss, a 2-1 heartbreaker to Orlando Pride. Sydney Leroux has scored six goals in her return this season, while Shea Groom has notched four goals and six assists. Meanwhile, Nicole Barnhart just earned her 100th appearance for Kansas City and has yet to sit out in 2017. The veteran goalkeeper has earned four shutouts, while she leads the league in saves (87). Kansas City is looking to bolster their hopes for a playoff spot with a win over Chicago on their home turf.

YOUNG & EXPERIENCED SQUAD: The Red Stars have one of the youngest rosters in the league, with a combined average age of 24.45, with seven players 23 years old or younger. However, a majority of the team has been together for three seasons, making it one of the most cohesive teams in the league.

LOOKING AHEAD: The Red Stars currently sit in third place in the NWSL league standings with 35 points. However, it is just nine points that separate the third to seventh place teams.

NEXT MATCH: Red Stars are just beginning their final road series of the season. Chicago will head south to take on the Houston Dash on September 23. The Red Stars have struggled on the road in Houston, losing both the 2016 and 2017 season opener at BBVA Compass Stadium.
