CHICAGO – The Chicago Red Stars Reserves won the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) Regionals for the Central Conference. The Reserves will head to Oklahoma for the WPSL Finals on Friday.

In the first round of Regionals, Chicago defeated South Texas Conference Champions, Tti: Bluebonnets 4-1. Chandra Eigenberger, Cali Havelka-Vanderplow, Channing Foster and Amanda Kowalski all netted goals for the Reserves.

In the Regional Finals, the Red Stars Reserves took down 2017 WPSL Champions, Fire and Ice SC, 1-0. After going nearly the whole match without a goal, Chicago earned the go-ahead goal in the 88th minute as Foster notched the game-winning tally.

The Red Stars Reserves advanced to the WPSL Finals this weekend in Oklahoma, taking on South Region’s winners, Pensacola FC on Friday, July 20. The winning team will face off against the winner of the second Semifinal match between Sounders FC and Fire and Ice SC.

Although Cleveland Ambassadors made it into the Semifinals, due to players leaving for college commitments, the club was forced to forfeit their position. Replacing Cleveland, Fire and Ice SC was given a second chance to defend their title.

The winners of both Semifinal matches will compete in the WPSL Final on Sunday, July 22.
