Red Stars Jackie Santacaterina To Be Inducted Into Geneva H.S. Athletic Hall of Fame

It was announced earlier this month that Chicago Red Stars defender Jackie Santacaterina will be inducted into Geneva High School’s Athletic Hall of Fame on February 7, 2014.

Santacaterina, a resident of Geneva, Illinois, will be inducted alongside Geneva High alums Jeff Ainsworth ’68, and Dr. Jim Klein ’90.

“Geneva High School will always have a special place in my heart,” stated Santacaterina. “It’s a small community with a huge support system surrounding their sports programs. There is a lot of pride in being able to wear a Geneva uniform, and I am so thankful for the experiences and memories.”

In 2005, Santacaterina led the Geneva Lady Vikings to a third-place finish in Illinois class AA, scoring 15 goals with 15 assists in 25 games.  She was named Suburban Prairie North Conference MVP in both 2004 and 2005, and named 2005 Kane County Player of the Year. Santacaterina finished her career at Geneva with 49 goals and 47 assists in 70 games.

“Luckily, my younger siblings are still at Geneva and involved in sports,” said Santacaterina. “I get to cheerlead from the sidelines along with generations of Geneva sports fans. It’s an honor to be a part of this program!”
