Chicago, Il. – Chicago Red Stars midfielder Alyssa Mautz has gone on loan to Russian side WFK Zorky until December 1, 2013.

The 24 year-old appeared in 14 matches for the Red Stars this season and tallied 4 goals, including a 2-goal effort in Portland on July 28. This will be Mautz’s first stint in the Russian Supreme League, which is the highest division of soccer in Russia.

“So far it has been a learning experience on and off the field,” said Mautz of her time in Russia thus far. “I hope to develop a different aspect of my game and grow as a person while here.” 

Zorky were Russian league champions in the 2012-13 season and have qualified for the UEFA Champion’s League of 2013-14.

Mautz is joined by a group of fellow Americans on the Zorky roster including NWSL player Amy Barczuk of WNY Flash, along with Ashley Nick and Chante Sandiford.
